🇧🇷 Few recipes represent Brazil as perfectly as pão de queijo. Whether served for breakfast, as an afternoon snack, or during family gatherings, this beloved cheese bread has won the hearts of Brazilians and visitors alike with its soft texture and irresistible flavor.
In this episode of Prova e Me Conta, we’re sharing a simple and practical way to make homemade cheese bread using a ready-made mix. To make it even more delicious, we add an extra layer of cheese on the outside and a creamy Catupiry filling on the inside. 😍🧀
✨ Best of all, this recipe makes a large batch, can be frozen before baking, and allows for endless filling possibilities to suit every taste.
🧀 500g Brazilian cheese bread mix
🧀 200g grated cured Minas cheese
🥚 4 whole eggs
🥛 250ml milk
🫒 100ml vegetable oil
🧂 10g salt
🧀 Extra grated cheese for coating
🥄 Catupiry or creamy Brazilian cheese spread for filling (optional)
1️⃣ Place the cheese bread mix into a large mixing bowl.
2️⃣ Add the grated Minas cheese 🧀.
3️⃣ Add the eggs 🥚, milk 🥛, vegetable oil 🫒, and salt 🧂.
4️⃣ Mix everything together until a uniform dough forms.
5️⃣ Knead the dough well until it becomes smooth and fully incorporated. This step is important for achieving the perfect cheese bread texture.
Before baking, roll each dough ball in grated cheese 🧀. This creates a delicious golden cheese crust that adds extra flavor and texture.
1️⃣ Take a portion of dough and flatten it slightly in your hand.
2️⃣ Place a small piece of Catupiry or creamy cheese spread in the center.
3️⃣ Carefully seal the dough and shape it into a ball.
4️⃣ Roll it again in grated cheese for an extra cheesy finish.
✨ You can also fill the cheese bread with guava paste, dulce de leche cubes, or additional cheese for delicious variations.
Arrange the dough balls on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 355°F (180°C) for approximately 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
The result is a cheese bread that is soft and chewy on the inside, lightly crispy on the outside, and filled with a rich, creamy center. 😍
☕ Serve warm with a freshly brewed Brazilian coffee.
🥤 It also pairs perfectly with fresh juices or a cold glass of Guaraná.
🎉 A fantastic option for parties, brunches, breakfast spreads, and family gatherings.
Brazilian cheese bread is one of the country's most iconic recipes. This Catupiry-filled version takes the experience to another level, delivering an irresistible burst of cheesy flavor in every bite. 🧀💛
And the best part? You can freeze the dough balls before baking and enjoy fresh, homemade cheese bread whenever you want.
🇧🇷 Because some recipes are more than food. They are memories, traditions, and a little piece of Brazil in every bite.
